HOW TO CALCULATE THE NUMBER OF BLOCKS REQUIRED FOR WALLING

The number of blocks required for wall can be calculated from the area of the wall which will be constructed by the block of certain size.
The mean girth of the simple obtained as calculated from previous post is 28.85m
The common (standard) size of the conc. block is 150 x 230 x 450; the wall length (mean girth) of building is multiplied by the height of the walls to find the total  surface area of wall, for a wall of height 2.8m with the opening as shown in the table below

The table below shows windows and doors schedule for doors and windows used

Total Area of Openings
24.61
The openings to be subtracted include windows, doors and other openings.
Net  area = Total area - Openings
Total area = 2.8 x 28.85          Openings Area = 24.61m2
                   = 80.78m2             Net Area = 80.78m224.61 m2
                =56.17 m2
The number of blocks for construction of wall can be calculated by dividing netwall area by block area
The area of block is calculated by addition of thickness of mortar to the dimension of block
For the mortar thickness of 10mm, new dimension of block becomes 10+230 and 10+450
The area of the block becomes
A = 0.24m x 0.46m
                                    A = 1104m2
Number of blocks = 56.17/0.1104
The number of blocks required is 508.786 ≈ 509 blocks
